Abstract
This whitepaper synthesises a QuakeCoRE-funded workshop on fault displacement hazards hosted at the University of Canterbury in May 2024. The workshop was convened by Tim Stahl (UC), Nicola Litchfield (GNS Science), Liam Wotherspoon (UoA) and Jeff Fraser (WSP). The information in the whitepaper may be useful to regulators, hazard analysts, practitioners, and academics interested in (i) best practice for characterizing displacement hazard and mitigating risk; (ii) international trends and future research directions on these topics. This output is aligned with the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake University Research Programme Resilience to Earthquake and Landslide Multi-hazards Research Aims 1 & 2: Seismic Source Characterisation and Earthquake and Landslide Multi-hazard Models.
